North is up, always. The compass on the plan agrees with me.
North is up on the plan, south is down, west is left, east is right.
'North of B' means any row above B's row, in any column. 'North and west' means a higher row AND a column to the left. '2 columns west' means exactly 2 columns to the left, in any row.
How to spot it
- A clue with north, south, east or west in it.
- A quarter of the floor plan: with an odd number of rows, the middle row is in no quarter.
Mae's tip
Hold your pencil along B's row or column: everything on the right side of it is the answer.
